Mr. Shumway started tae kwon do when he was six years old and it quickly became his passion. He loved the energy and intensity his instructor had when he was teaching, so he went to every class he could. When he was ten years old he told himself he was going to be a Master Instructor one day; he earned his black belt when he was thirteen. In high school he took a break from tae kwon do because he was three sport athlete. He graduated in 2014.
In November 2015 Mr. Shumway started working at FTKDC and says he couldn’t be happier. Eventually he would like to open his FTKDC and live a happy, healthy life.
Mr. Shumway spends most of his time with friends, family, and his girlfriend. He also likes going to the movies and practicing kicks and forms. He is excited to help kids and adults become the best they can be!
Growing up Mr. O has always enjoyed working with kids. In the summertime, he worked at a church camp for a week as an assistant counselor, leading groups of kids through all the camp activities. Mr. O is now 30 years old and has worked in a handful of positions including: working the lanes and kitchen at Sussex Bowl, being a Teller and Manager at Guaranty Bank, and having a customer service position at Target. He is very thankful for the opportunity to be part of the FTKDC Family because he enjoys working one on one with families and helping them become the best that they can be.
In the future, Mr. O would like to manage and own a FTKDC location. He has grown to love the school and all that it does for the families in the community, so he wants to own a part of that and help make it grow!
In his free time he enjoys playing video games and spending quality time with his wife. Mr. O and his wife like to go out to eat, go to the movies, and take road trips to neat places like House On The Rock. Their next destination to visit is the Exotic Feline Rescue Center in Indiana.

She became most interested in dance, which she did until the end of high school. After high school she attended the University of Wisconsin- Oshkosh where she became an active member of the sorority Zeta Tau Alpha. Ms. James held multiple positions including: Vice President of Membership, Director of Social Events, Recruitment Counselor, and Music Chairman. She has spent a lot of time volunteering, especially for her sorority’s philanthropy: Breast Cancer Education Awareness. Ms. James graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh with a Bachelor’s of Business Administration Degree, specializing in Human Resources Management.
Ms. James just joined the FTKDC Family in February 2017, but she has found that the people she works with on a daily basis are extremely passionate and dedicated, which has made her very excited to be a part of the team. In the future she hopes to take part in the growth of FTKDC and become a part of a larger administrative team, where she can help lead new employees and assist them in carrying out FTKDC’s values. She also hopes to continue on with taking lessons and move to a higher belt.
Most of Ms. James’ free time is spent with family, friends, her boyfriend (Josh) and her cat (Tucker). Other than that, she loves experiencing unfamiliar places, so she finds great pleasure in traveling. She tries to make it a point to go somewhere she has never been every year. She also likes to read mostly anything, but especially enjoys thriller novels and informative articles.
Mr. Cole was born in New York where he started training in martial arts at the age of 5 and earned his black belt when he was 12. He studied Mass Media and Communications before moving to Wisconsin where his daughter was born. He went into the military for 8 years where he served as a Hospital Core Man for a Recon Team. After returning home he worked with kids with Autism and Prader Willi Syndrome for some time before he met Ms. Barczak who introduced him to Master Elliott. After a few classes and training he knew he wanted to be an instructor at FTKDC.
Mr. Cole would like to open up a FTKDC in the future where his daughter can instruct and he could eventually leave her the school to run on her own. He would like to be successful enough to travel all over the world to study new languages, cultures, and martial arts. He wants to help others and bridge the gaps between each martial art so everyone can focus on the most important thing, helping people.
In his free time he likes to spend time with his daughter and family, watch movies, play video games, and study tae kwon do.
Ms. Barczak has lived a very active lifestyle her entire life, taking part in many sports and activities including: basketball, soccer, softball, tennis, and tae kwon do. Her junior year of high school she decided to fully commit herself to basketball and earned a Division II scholarship to Hillsdale College in Michigan where she played for 4 years and graduated with a Financial Management Degree. Family Tae Kwon Do Champions has changed her life in so many positive ways, but the way it’s impacted her the most is that it has given her a platform to help other people. She says there is no better feeling than to see a student improve not only as a martial artist, but in other areas of life, especially: confidence, health, and overall happiness. Her goal is to help other people with these same intentions open their own Family Tae Kwon Do Champions across the nation so they can live a happier, more fulfilled life!
In her free time she loves to work out at the gym, run outside, play tennis, and find other fun ways to stay active. She also loves watching the Packers, Badgers, Brewers, and Bucks, spending time with family and friends, traveling, and reading.
